What is career? Career is the essence of life. It should not be limited to involvement in something for earning money. Career has to do something which can bring satisfaction in life. Hence there is need to select suitable career which one can pursue till his last breath. Vedic astrology can help in choosing such career. I am not denying the fact that Career has to do with material gains, name, fame and one’s presence in society. This desire can only make one motivated to add value to the family, society and country. In HIS book ‘Karma & Rebirth and Hindu Astrology’, one of the greatest astrologers, K.N.Rao has talked about free will in the life. He stresses on the point that selection of an educational area is matter of ‘freewill’. Destiny has little control on that. I would like to extend this point in respect to career too. ‘Freewill’ is very much available in selecting a most suitable career. Now one is not bound by family tradition or business. Opportunities are numerous and one gets different opportunities to excel in life. There was time when Education was more and less determining factor for Career too. However, this concept is not always true in todays’ globalised world. One has tendency to change the nature of career to fulfill his self-esteem/actualised needs. Which houses are important? The most obvious house is 10th (house of Career), 11th house (house of fulfillment of hopes and wishes), Lagna (the overall natural inclination), Moon Sign (Inclination of mind for a particular vocation), 7th house (house of business) and 3rd house (hobbies). All the houses must be synchronized to predict about the career. For example, if there is connection between lagna, 3rd house and 10th house, there is strong chance that the native would covert his Hobby into a successful career. If 7th and 10th house are connected, involvement in some kind of partnerships and business is always good. The influence of 2nd house brings the family business into the career. Certainly the prediction is not very simple as it looks, but the basic idea remains the same. The difficult part is to synchronize the nature of planets, signs and houses.
